I once went to the town of Albaida to find the origins of the river. Although the river is no more than a small stream at this point, it was obvious that this was not the source. I didn’t manage to find the source, but my research indicates that the river starts high in the hills between Fontanares and Benicadell.
The river is 52km long and travels through or near the towns of Albaida, Bufali, Montaverner, then into the reservoir at Bellús, then continues past Genovés, Xativa, Manuel, Senyera, and Villanueva de Castellón, where just outside the town the River Albaida joins forces with the River Jugar.
