Genoves
Genoves has a population of just over 2,800 very friendly people, and like most traditional villages it has a plethora of fiestas during the course of the year.
The main village fiesta is held in the first week of August, starting with a mix of young bulls, and anyone macho (or foolhardy enough) in a corral. The idea being to try and get close to the bull without being gored. It really is a party atmosphere, with the participants taking great pleasure in soaking the spectators with water when a bull is in another area of the corral.
People
There are currently 10 bars, and I have to admit my son and I are known in most of them, and have made many friends watching Valencia football team, and had some special nights with Spain winning the Europeans (twice) and the world cup.
In all the time we have lived here, we can honestly say we have been welcomed with open arms, and when my wife’s mother (who lived with us) died in June 2012 the genuine heartfelt condolences from people we met in the village was quite special.
Pilota
A very popular game played in the Valencia region is pilota, it’s played in a court called a Trinquet. Trinquets are closed rooms of variable size: from 8.5 - 11 m wide and 45 - 60 m long. Genoves has it own Trinquet court and games are televised during the season.
Our small village boasts many professional players, the most high profile being ex world champion Paco Cabanes (El Genoves), who was born in the village (20th December 1954) He was regarded as the best player of his generation. He was head and shoulders above his nearest rivals, and was often given a handicap, ie playing out of position, or using one hand only, or not being to return the ball on the volley, he had to let it bounce first.

The architecture is a mix of old and new. The older (private) town houses, being close to the church, and the newer (private) townhouses being east of the town hall.
In recent years the village has had a new library and auditorium, a new artificial football pitch with flood lights, and a new indoor swimming pool. The town hall has been revamped, and in the sports centre, the gym has all new equipment.
